  • I have 32c gators on so should be able to get some 28 cross tyres on fine :-)

  • Slicks! You'll get more rep. Fixed?

Ha to be fair I don't want to buy new tyres. Will just deflate a bit.

    Yeah fixed. Probably 48/19.

  • I'll be doing it on this.

  • this was the route last year:

    might of changed though

    thanks budd

  • confused about the bike, should I take the Rat (more comfortable with 48x17 fixed, 32c tyres, front disc brake, riser) or the nice bike? Caad 10; but then I'll have to get 25c tyres for it, get it checked by a a local shop (a basic service etc.) as it is due anyway.

I have done Brighton fixed on a bit too big for me uncomfortable bullhorns with 48X16 and I had to drag myself for the last 15 miles.

  • take the rat

  • you mean that?

    cool!

  • Amey, that would be perfect for HotN.. Say hello to the lions for me when you pass them ;)

  • lions?

  • Hopefully, if the route goes that way..

  • I am amazed that gazetta can take a 30mm CX tyre!

    6. dj commuto-x bike, currently deciding between 32mm slicks or knobbles, mudguards and rack will be removed
  • I was just going to do it on my normal road bike with the 23cs and c50s, like the posh-bike wanker that I am. Should I instead aim to get the 35cs mounted on my fixie twatter?

  • no, please keep to 23c's so that i'm not the only person on inappropriate tyres!

  • I am amazed that gazetta can take a 30mm CX tyre!

The wheel's right at the back of the track ends and there's not much clearance, so I'm having to make a call on traction vs clearance - a 27mm with a heavy tread would be good, But I got the Schwalbe CX pro's for £16, so gonna risk it, the weather looks dry up until Monday...and sunday should be fairly light wind wise, so ok for fixed riding...

  • The biggest reason I am not doing on my roadie is because I don't want to spend on tyres that I'll almost never use. Otherwise 23/25c seems fine no? Rapha says have 25c min in the link above ..

  • 1982 Gazelle cyclo cross with Cx pros for me, and a Gabba jacket.(or perhaps not as its Rapha)

  • sounds fine, as long as it is not yellow, people should avoid yellow bikes

  • Why?, being a sensible chap you must have a good reason

  • probably clashes with the kit for his favourite team of lawn fairies

  • i'll be back next year to feed the lions.. need to do TLC for 2013...
