Yep, this caught me out this morning. The new "small parcel" seemed to have a good range, but price soon jumped up when some bars turned out to be 2cm longer than the template they now use (despite being lighter than anything else I sent and still fitting through the aperture) so price doubled as a "medium parcel". Cnuts.

Yep! Must admit I nearly fell of my chair after the surprise increases... Basic second class item has increased from £2.20 to £2.60 although it goes up to a considerable weight! Still rip off!

Hah, yep. Had to be, didn't it? Don't worry, I just stamped on the bars until they fitted through the standard letter slot.

I was going to offer to help with the costs but sounds like you got it covered! Bring on the ergo-moustache bars...

Is there a service like this that allows shop drop off? I started off posting frames/wheels by courier but when I realised that I could take stuff to the post office for not much more I moved to that. If the price has gone up then I'll go back to couriers but I could really do without hanging about waiting for them.

My local shop has started using this: http://www.collectplus.co.uk/
Try the postcode finder to see if there is a shop near you. If the post becomes much more expensive, it will be cheaper to just take it to the destination yourself.

^^ Parcel2Go allow you to send via MyHermes and these have loads and loads of drop off spots about the country. Used them many times without bother, though they are a bit slow, but then I've always gone for their cheapest, slowest service.

Ah collectplus may work...the local Mace (what a name....) supermarket does it.
Tx!
(rest is out due to me being in Norn Ire...the place the UK forgot)

myhermes and collect+ become a problem if your sending big stuff though as lots of them use their own cars and if they arrive and its a huge bike box they go, 'hows that fit in my boot eh?' and drive off
Turns out the Post Office put their prices up yesterday people.
Gone up quite a bit and insurance has fell from £44 to £20 per parcel unless signed for delivery
Don't forget to factor this into your sale prices
