also you have to question it's effectiveness. if that was used in a real attack (which by the way would require the woman to be wearing it at pretty much all times in anticipation of being attacked) then the damage caused/loss of power(ego) to the attacker would likely be enough to push the already sociopathic rapist over the edge into causing the victim actual bodily harm possibly to the point of murder.
frankly i think it's a completely ridiculous idea and rightly posted in epic fail. in terms of prevention it's the equivalent of having a knife strapped to the inside of your wrist in case someone tries to mug you for your phone. 1 in a 100 times it might save you but you'd have to live your life in fear to even consider it and likely it'll end up getting you badly hurt.
