Zipp valve extenders intended mode of operation is to undo the locking nut on the valve stem, then screw the extender onto the valve.
The locking nut is therefore unlocked all the time.
I had these on my old wheels, can't say I ever noticed them going down faster than any other butyl-tubed wheelset.

Undo valve locknut with skinny end of valve extender
Fit valve extender to valve
Inflate tube
Remove valve extender
Tighten locknut with skinny end of valve extender -

thanks for your help
noticed lately that a few carbon rims are not showing the valve outside of the rims. those rims where clinchers. do the work with a valve extension wich is removed after inflating ? does the vlave than stay opened, when the extension is removed ? wont it loose pressure thru vibriation ...
