  • Yeah me too, as close the NW London as possible haha

I'll go anywhere... as long as it's not north of the river!

North of Waterloo Bridge (strand) to Tower Bridge. This encompasses covent garden, clerkenwell, old street, hoxton, brick lane, shoerditch, whitechapel, bethnal green, bow, shadwell, wapping.

Hmm - good luck with that.

You'll love it once you've tried it.

  • Hi,

Thanks you all. I think I did say at the begining from Waterloo to Tower Bridge, Dave has let me have the route but I have not had time to sit down with it and plan where and when. If it is OK with you all I would prefer to get back to you on Thursday next week with a plan and a route.

    Adam

  • That good by me, thanks Zebs.

  • @TLC: I know probably far too late... but last year we did an easy detour to avoid the bleak stretch of the Highway, up the housing estates to join CS2 then rejoin the route at Tower Bridge. it was relaxed.

Ok- can prob help with stuff as far west as say Old St. Will check back next wk.

  • Cool beans - if Zebs is getting signage sent to him/project managing, maybe the best plan is to wait for Zeb to allocate/assign tasks?

    .

    Indeed - its his gig.

  • I'm grateful for the help but let me give some clarity over whats needed on the weekend of the 6th/7th.

Collecting signs: Help needed over the whole course - signs need to be ripped from lamposts and binned (recycled). I've booked Monday off to do this so anybody who can do sections - esp north of river - will help.
I'm a little concerned with the signs coming down same day as we have people back at 6pm sometimes who have several pints / picnics on the way round - but again appreciative of the help on offer here. Basically don't worry about it, its covered.

My offer stands for Sunday but I can't help on Monday sorry

  • Simon that is great

  • Greetings to one and all,

Re TLC's 'I'm a little concerned with the signs coming down same day as

It is important for top athletes to make sure they take in fluids ^^^ and ^^^^ nutrition at regular intervals. Please remember this on the day.

The bright yellow thing visible in the sky this morning is known as the sun. It has not been around much lately but is guaranteed for this ride.

    Peace and Love,
    Tim

  • Greetings to each and every one....,

Well in honour of The Cobblemonster / TLC lui-même it is time to say it is just over one week to go until The London Classic.

The Meteorological office have just confirmed that it is going to be a heatwave

With what appear to be outbreaks of heavy earth moving equipment in the Lancashire area and beige polo necks (nice...) coming in from the west.

So please remember to bring sun tan lotion, sun glasses and take on fluids at regular intervals.

Have a happy and peaceful time over Easter.

See you on the start line in a week or so's time.

Peace and Love to each and every one,
    Tim

  • Even if it rains, it sounds to me like Tim's presence will be enough to make it feel like bright sunshine. See you there bro.

  • Hotel booked, an epic ride ahead, sunny skies guaranteed* and a pint with my name one at the end of the day... Then of course there's meeting you lot for the first time, but hey ho, you can't win 'm all... ;)

    *or else...

  • Due to work commitments I cant get out of now, I can no longer make the event itself, ive emailed you TLC, however I am available of sign duties after about 3pm, on Sat I`ll be in the Euston area if thats any good to anyone

  • "You have given out too much Reputation in the last 24 hours, try again later."

    :(

    I'll be back...

  • Props to the people who have offered their time to putting up signs- you have my thanks.

I don't understand the resistance to offering a map that can be converted into a Garmin'able file?

Last year was fun, but we got lost, some signs had been either removed or re-pointed by local wags, leading to much hilarity.

It'd be convenient to have a handlebar based helper on hand to assist in these cases, rather than having to stop the whole group, get a map out, work out where it all went so wrong, then back track, stop, check the map/repeat.

  • I've just drawn the route onto a paper map with a pink highlighter. Conveniently it mostly fits on free cycling guide 14 which you can send off for.

We're definitely going to get lost.

  • Sounds promising, coming from a guy with a map...

  • Route is available on TLC site now - can be turned into a Garmin friendly route via Ride With GPS or it's ilk, eh?

  • Sounds promising, coming from a guy with a map...

There are big easy bits (the start to Waterloo bridge for example) but there are bits in the City and West End where you take a turn every 50 metres or so. It's going to be a pain without a GPS doing turn-by-turn navigation. I might buy a map holder.

If anyone wishes to do (and share) this I will buy them a beer of their choosing at the end.

Listen carefully, I shall say this only once... One of you must memorise the route and then eat the map, and destroy the website to ensure the Germans wont find it. As long as only one of you knows where we're going, no one will notice if we take a wrong turn.

there will be signs. it'll be fine. in those windy bits it's kinda dot-to-dot except with cobbles, so if you're not sure, aim for the nearest cobbled street.

last year the only sign-turning tomfoolery that caused any real confusion was round Spitalfields.

    Here be my attempt: [ame]http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2294119[/ame
    [/ame]

A few counterflow bike-laney sections and some dismounts but it did all join up so fairly confident :)

Edit: climbs added, pave not (surprises!). Looks OK on a 705 but no POIs via GPX. Beep boop.

  • ^Good work.

I'm gonna highlight cycle guide 14 a la doppelkorn.
    Cheers.
