  • Being not in London and having sold and bought lots on here I can say 99.9999% of my experinces have been great (apart from the last set of force cranks I bought that the pedal thread was wobbling around on after about 80 miles).

Always use pp gift for buy and sell. Fuck giving any more to the thieving scum..

  • Always ask for recorded delivery. It's like an extra 1-2quid and insures and tracks your item....

  • I've done loads of deals online and these things are very rare
    But it's not looking good

So all I can do is wait for the seller to see my PM's I've sent and see what happens

He is telling me he was going to go to post office today as its now past 21 days so they will act and treat the parcel as missing
But 21 days was a few days ago now and he doesn't seem to be in a hurry to sort this out
I may approach PayPal and see if they will give me his address

  • A small point - recorded delivery items go missing too. And i have had a problem with a seller where i returned items to get them changed but he said he never received them, they were about £12 and i used the cheapest postage so no comeback for me against Royal Mail - i bit the bullet and re-ordered and paid the seller again. One bad transaction out of approx 200 and for £12 - i think it is ok but i could still moan about the loss.

I posted an items today from Northern Ireland to England - cost £10+, signed, insured, first class - cost was going to be £16+ - i still think i was being robbed.

Rant over, i hope the OP gets this sorted, it leaves a bad taste when you read about problems like this.

Even 2nd class is covered by insurance up to £46 if you get a proof of posting at the post office. I've never tried to use RM's compensation but in theory at least for small components etc it seems quite valid...?

But yes certainly from the buyer perspective I'm less concerned by recorded del etc than by payment method. Both paypal gift and bank transfer are akin to handing someone you don't know cash for an item you've never seen, so there's a lot of trust there.

Looks a lot like fraud. It seems to me unlikely you know rake angle etc of a mint pair of forks but you don't know where they came from. Possibly an innocent mistake like helios but more likely a rather excessive bending of the truth.

Bad sign when pretty much all of someone's interactions on the forum are sales anyway.

    +1

  • I sell and buy quite a bit of stuff and usually do PP Gift.....only if it is expensive and i don't know the chap will i use PP with buyer protection. I have had a few sticky moments but with the help of people...good people i should add...things have been resolved without rancour......If i sent something and it was lost in the post...i would give a refund to they buyer and then seek to get compensation from RM.....and i tend to use 2nd class postage with proof of posting.

  • I asked the seller to get a refund from royal mail but he told me his parcel wasn't insured but I'm guessing he didn't bother getting proof of postage ..

Wasn't willing to give me a full refund as he had lost out ..

I accepted his offer of a partial refund so just got £10 back so not a total loss but here is what I will do in future

    Pay PayPal fees
    Pay for first class
If its expensive pay for recorded

If I post I already always always get proof of postage

    Shame it turned sour

  • seller should have refunded in full, then claimed from royal mail
I have done this and got a cheque in the post from RM, no questions asked

  • Strangely my worst eposode with Royal Mail was a watch which i left in a local jewellers for repair. They posted the watch - Special Delivery from Northern Ireland (here) to England for the repair to be done. In the process, the watch was stolen. The jeweller phones me and they offered me £1250 for the watch wihci i accepted, they were then going to claim from Royal Mail. This seems a similar situation. The watch never turned up - it was Zenith Defy with a stainless steel bracelet and the writing on the white dial was in French/Swiss - on the off chance that anyone has seen it. It was a 21st birthday present and i was rather annoyed about losing it through no fault of my own. I would like to contact the thief and let him know of my annoyance!!!!!!!

    Another rant over,

    Richard

  • I did expect a full refund and if it was more than £17 I would have kicked off more but if the seller couldn't be bothered to get proof of postage he couldn't claim

And I count myself lucky to get the chance of £10 back..

I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone buy from this guy in the future.

  • Very poor, inform the mods if I were you.

  • Hunt him down on Vespas?
