A small point - recorded delivery items go missing too. And i have had a problem with a seller where i returned items to get them changed but he said he never received them, they were about £12 and i used the cheapest postage so no comeback for me against Royal Mail - i bit the bullet and re-ordered and paid the seller again. One bad transaction out of approx 200 and for £12 - i think it is ok but i could still moan about the loss.
I posted an items today from Northern Ireland to England - cost £10+, signed, insured, first class - cost was going to be £16+ - i still think i was being robbed.
Rant over, i hope the OP gets this sorted, it leaves a bad taste when you read about problems like this.
