  • Right, I could do with a stand for my amp/deck, something not too ugly nor too pricey. Most of the stuff I've seen so far are pricey eyesores. If someone could point me in the right direction...

  • i find all media devoted furnishings to be eyesores frankly. i tend to re-appropriate something else for the task. useless post i know.

  • Ikea?

Yep, same here. If it's for a tt make sure it's nice and heavy and rigid.

  • Fnar

  • Any suggestions for a radio alarm clock with good sound quality (i.e. something beyond Pure, Roberts, etc). Needs to have DAB and a remote control.

Tried googling but not finding much beyond the obvious.

  • Anyone else know of the little basement electrical repair/sales place on Lordship Lane? Wandered in there halfway though a run last week. Looked to have some sweet pieces of bargainous audio and some interesiting guitar amps. I intend to return on payday.

  • pls take a picture, of the guitar amps in particular.

I have a 'thing' for cool solid state amps like H/H, Peavey (teal stripe) and anything more unusual.

  • I need some (4) large (between 70cm and 1m tall) tall retro speakers, looking like this

    Something like wharfdale dovedale

Where in London would have a selection of something like this?

  • Arcam Alpha 5 plus Cd player for sale. Great system.

Looking for £100. Can deliver in London. Boxed, all working fine, with remote and manuals.

  • have had my first listen to the cowon and it sounds stunning ( I would put that in capitals but dave doesn't allow shouting ) I got a headache because my brain couldn't take in all the sound that Bjork was throwing at me
amazed by the sound through grado headphones so crisp and clear
there are a lot of graphics equalizer kind of options with the jet 3.0 sound effects thingy I know audiophiles would rip any bass and treble adjustment buttons off their equipment but for some dance tracks it's nice to pump up the bass a bit
so might have a listen with different options inc. Xbass

putting more tracks on tonight and looking forward to the commute tomorrow morning

Big fan of the Cowon players, picked up a D2 & stuck a 32gb micro SD card in it - leaves iPods in the dust...

  • have had it for a few months now and i cannot fault the X7
i know it has issues with crashing and user interface is a bit 1980's but touch wood it's been perfectly behaved so far

i haven't listened to a lot of MP3 players but that thing is so pure a sound so nice a listen i can't really imagine too many players doing better
120gb is plenty of listening too

rating 11/10 wouldn't buy anything else

  • Anyone want to buy my AS nxt flat panel set? Black Frames.

Mint condition, extremely light use. Just fancy some big old boxes from summer car boot season.

^ Ariston tuner going spare. Let me know if there's any interest.

It works fine and has 20 presets. Seems a shame to throw it out.

  • I can use it if anyone can bring it to the polo champs at Cambridge this weekend... Beer reward available.

  • Well, it looks like I'm about to inherit my late grandfather's set up. I really don't know what it all is but from memory it's a B&O turntable, NAD amp, mystery CD player and some pretty hefty and beautiful Denon speakers. He was an absolute nut for classical piano and organ music and used to blare it out late at night after a few snifters of port. I'm beyond excited to be taking ownership of his beloved stuff. Will make damn sure I play some of his records too.

  • Hefty speakers are a good thing.

  • Long live FM! Oh, and this needs merging into here.

    Well jelly.

And not sure if 'sorry for your loss' is called for :/

  • Does anyone know the name of, or how to get in touch with that little basement second hand audio/electonic repair shop in East Dulwich?

I came across it while jogging home from work a while back but every time I ride though there I can't remember where it was? Lordship Lane possibly in the vicinity of the Police Station?

Thanks man. Yes and no, the splendid old bugger shuffled off a good few years back now. It's just my grandmother moving into sheltered accomodation so we're trying to find homes for lots of stuff.

Will update on arrival (may be several weeks yet).

  • would if i could mate....
