  • Ok, so the first bit of bad news of the build.....

Having picked up the frame and pulled it out in my open plan office, I noticed that the transit had resulted in some damage to the paint especially around the top of the dropouts.

Then my boss says "oh look it's got a dent in it".

The dent is cosmetic, but more prominent than the above pic suggests. It's smack in the middle of the top tube, and ruins the loveliness of an otherwise gorgeous frame. I know it's rideable, and everything else seems straight, but I will always look at it and imagine how awesome it would be without a fkn dent in it.

I'm convinced from the paint damage that the couriers laid the frame on it's side with some heavy stuff on top. Despite being well packed, the frame box was basically crushed flat at the top and if it hadnt been so well packed I think it would be a complete write-off.

Anyway. I'm sort of philosophical about this. I have reached an arrangement with the seller which will see me keep the frame at a price we agreed reflects the damage, or the cost of repairing, assuming I go down that road. Fortunately he was pragmatic about the whole thing, which otherwise could have gotten pretty nasty.

There is an ongoing legal issue (insurance claim) with the frame, and as such I'd rather not say any more or discuss the couriers. Suffice to say however, that until it all get's resolved, the build will be on hold, and I'll have to make to with current bikes for training and prep.

and with research and collecting parts in anticipation of a resolution.
