I don't think making the frames is the problem.
It's making the right frames that's the problem.
And he has made some Low-copies before, according to this thread, but yeah I get the drift

I'm in a very similar boat, although not with Mielec. Except I knew this would be a long build, and was informed of this. I was expecting/hoping for 12 months. Most of the delays after that have been as much my own, as the builders. Fatbikes just arent standard. I'm not sure if this is the case with Mielec. But IMHO its understandable that a small builder will need to keep easier builds going out the door. I personally did'nt pay for all the extra man hours my frame has demanded. So I'm not going to complain about them.
Hope this works out for you.
I understand that fatbikes are hard and they have had trouble building it, and the long lead time (which isn't really that long for a custom frame) is understandable. What I don't understand is lying about the progress. At one point he said that It'll be ready in a week, and then 3 weeks later said that they haven't even started because they've had problems with their plotter and haven't got the drawings out.

Yeah. That sounds frustrating.
If it where me, I'd say the frame will take 8 months. Then Surprise you 6 months, and sit back while the bike forum praise flowed over me.

Its the way forward, and makes sense as a business, and at that rate you would end up with a 6mth waiting list due to forum praise, win, win

Arttu I gotta say that I would ask my money back at this point.
Doesn't matter how standard fatbikes are or not they should have some idea what they can and can't build when they take special orders. Mine and Jones' order was a bit special and a bit late but yours may be the first fatbike they've ever built and it might be done some day but the delayed building indicates to me that they have serious problems finishing it. What those problems are I don't know but they might affect the result so you might end up waiting 6months for a frame that's not what you ordered but also might not work.
Not trying to raise any more doubt but there's always the possibility that they will fail in their attempt to make you the frame you ordered.

So Mielec wrote back saying he could do a copy of a Low-geo. Nice to hear! I was hoping someone from lfgss had a Low-geo, who could comment on their frames and geometry, and if it came out okay. Also, what you sent to Mielec, if you just copied the specs from Low's website?

• #3360
beware. the one that came with completely messed up geometry was ordered as a low copy...

tp88 on the forum has a low//

Bummer! Exactly why I'd like to hear from someone with a successful outcome, and what they wrote to Mielec :)

Well, I've gotten photos of the frame tacked a few weeks ago and last week he said quite clearly that the frame is done and going into painting, so I'm going to wait at least until next week. If it doesn't show up, I can at least call him out on being a liar and demand my money back, or some compensation for the huge delay.

that's true.
I think we ordered about same time?
hope your turns out alright. something else would be really frustrating I can imagine.. -

A question about chinese 3t funda forks. Can I get it to work with a traditional headset? Mine feels loose, the crown race isnt tight a all (ive tried several) and the fork itself moves a little when everythings is tightened.

I've just got an email with a tracking number fingers crossed

^^ 1 1/8th diameter fork?
What is the crown race loose against? Loose to fork or headset? Are all the races you're using compatible with the HS? -

^^ Yes and well, both. Now Im using the original race and fork wiggles around alot.
e: I think the race is the problem. Any tips for that? Can I just glue it to the fork? :))) -

The dented headtube is an easy fix, bit of bending with pliers and hammering the round end of a spanner at it and it pops out fine, squeeze your bearings in and job done, maybe stick a bit of inner tube over the bit you're bending if worried about paintwork.
this is exactly what i did when mine came damaged, though I'm not surprised considering this is the box it came in

Untitled by The Chinnnn, on FlickrFuck me thats dreadful packing, ive emailed about these concerns, but thought it was more to do with DPD being knobs, but if you package a frame like that, it will be a miracle if it turns up unscathed
