Nice frame, google Alan Pongo Braithwaite to know what will be between your legs so to speak. Had a Lo-Pro of his once nicely made.

Lovely colour on that. Would look great with some black NMSW rims and some tanwalls.

Done some research in Aende and Alan Braithwaite and found out he is from Nottingham which is where I'm from too
Some great pictures of "Pongo"

I love my Aende lo pro, it's the only bike I have that I would never sell.
I have some correspondence from the original owner, which includes some of the details of how it was bought from Pongo somewhere, not much information other than some TT times, but quite nice to have.
There's the odd story around the web about him and his frames, there's a good comment here from Brian Hall on how they came to be named:
http://www.the5thfloor.co.uk/2010/07/25/aende-bikes/
"After a few years Alan decided to make his own brand of frame and with a lot of backing from another dear friend of mine Derek Wood who along with his dear wife, were tragically killed in a car accident in Oct 1983, they decided to build AENDE (Alan and Derek A&D)"

Didn't he end up in Thailand?
or is that another of the internet rumours.Seriously nice frame Sam - like the idea of an Anglo-NJS build too.
(Quick note on the NJS Chrome-Headset quest - you'll need ISO not JIS)
-
• #9
thanks! :) whats the difference?
-
• #10
JIS crown race are sloppy on the fork crown (27.0mm should be 26.4mm)
JIS cups sit a teeny bit sloppy in the headtube (30.0mm should be 30.2mm)

i have just aquired an Aende... careful with the stack height on the headset, mine is super short. Going for a similar njs themed set up with nitto risers a la yeahnerdz...

The headset you linked is most likely ISO thought A9 headset is (or was) available in both ISO and JIS cups standards (according to VeloBase).

Beautiful frame, my Aende is my pride and joy, wouldnt sell it in a million years. I used to have a vintage Dura-ace headset on mine but swapped it out for a chris king the other year so you've got plenty of options

Slightly better price for you. Spend another £9 on bits and it'll only cost you £21!
I bought one recently and can confirm it is ISO.

I've got some nitto risers you can have for a tener. Bit scratched up though.

Received the frame on monday, and it's a beaut.
Currently built up with parts I had lying around, nothing special. Can't wait until student loan drops...

Sam you get those bars yet????
-
• #23
I have indeed received them. Just put them on, they are sick!

That build looks cool. Don't worry about spending loads of money on new parts just tweak the bar angle and put some tape on and you're good to go.
Just bought this bad boy:

Advice for building this up would be really helpful, would love to run some njs parts on it so if anyone has any stuff going please send me a PM.
To start with I will be running the bike on parts I have from my current track frame and slowly build up.
