I rode over that footbridge thing on Sunday morning. That's been one of those 'ford' signs that I've ridden past for 5 years or so, and wondered why it's there. This year's been the first time that it's been relevant, along with many other previously incongruous signs.

But I checked the environment agency's watertable maps and stats, and a lot of places in the home counties are still barely reaching half the maximum recorded water levels.

i went out with my father on boxing day and did that loop and had to walk over the side of that ford. the floods then were worse than they were last weekend when i was back there and i lost count how many roads we went through that were flooded on that loop on boxing day.
