Thanks, yeah I think ill stick with the silver ring. if I slam the wheel in the dropouts the tyre touches but they are 25c's. At the moment there is about a millimetre clearance.
You spec that? I can get 28 in mine pretty easily and got a 25 in there slammed totally with a nice amount of space.
Thanks mate, it cost £204 all in all with custom tubing (triangular top tube, oval downtube), custom geo, sparkly paint, smooth welds, integrated headset, triple triangle and brake cable stops and mount.
Ah man little disappointing the prices are going up. Might shoot Robert an email to see if he'll give me a discount as a returning customer

I guess the chainstay length must be slightly shorter with the triple triangle frames.

I still feel like I got a good deal and to be honest I don't know how they were making any money from the prices they were originally charging.

After looking through this thread I'm really tempted to contact Robert, however my knowledge of components/builds isn't great.
If I wanted to use a SRAM Omnium Kit, would I be best sending the following info to Robert along with the required geometry/frame spec?
Headset: 1 1/8 Threadless
Bottom Bracket: English/British Threaded 68mm Shell
Seat Post Size: 31.6mmCheers,
Jason

The last two are normal for Mielecs.

Ideal, cheers Emyr

He is going to ask you what kind of intergrated headset you want. I went for is42 aka campagnolo, which is 45 degree angle on both bearings
is42 is the most common I think
-
• #3308
just make sure to buy an integrated fork later to go with it.
-
• #3309
Gah, IS42 eh?... off to Google I go.
I was hoping I could use a Threadless Aheadset, similar to the following:
http://www.tokyofixed.co.uk/parts/headsets/elite-threadless-headset-5096.htmlor would it have to be an Integrated (IS42 or similar) which I'll have to investigate?
Thank you for the info.

You can get non-integrated headset head tubes with Mielecs. just say non-IHS.

Just rattled off an Epic WTF?? email to Robert, whatever time Robert tells you it will take to build, stop & while carefully navigating all the smoke he`ll try to blow up your arse, with a four week lead time, treble it to 12 weeks for a more realistic timescale Dork mate
-
• #3312
Surely everyone on here would know to expect this?

I didnt expect a 4 week turn around, I did expect robert to be more honest about actual timescale, instead saying one thing and doing another, if hed told me 12wks, I would have been fine with it, thats the funny thing, just hate feeling i'm being messed about, especially by someone i
ve given money to, but hey maybe i`m odd that way & expect way too much of people, lets hope I've hit a soft note in Robert with my email and he fesses up to real time scale this time, lol -
• #3314
That was the quickest reply yet, think I got through to him, must have been when I paused half way through my email to get a hanky, lol, frame is being shipped out tomorrow, tracking details to follow, just not counting my chickens yet though

I had a go at him about it. if you bullshit on stuff like that, knowing full well its not going to be 4 weeks how can you trust him with other stuff? Guess he still hasn't taken it in and improved.

No seems he hasnt rince, probably that busy he doesnt give a crap, and thinks the money train will keep on rolling, but if he carries on this way, people will get fed up and the orders will stop, although I do wonder bearing in mind that no doubt he`s tapped into hundreds of forums like this all over europe
-
• #3317
He tapped into the forums, or the forums tapped into him?
-
• #3318
^ good point
-
• #3319
12 weeks isn't all that long to wait for a custom frame, I don't know why he would decide to lie and call it 4! So stupid, negative reviews about his reliability aren't going to do him any favours.

How's everyone finding there mielecs anyway? I'm having a blast with mine although the paint seems sort of shitty, I'm getting a lot of chips on the seat tube from locking up already, I'm thinking maybe they forgot the clearcoat, they got the colour wrong so I wouldn't be surprised. Is there a way to tell if it has been clearcoated?

he is tapped into the forum, pretty sure he's Tolij.

you dont clearcoat powdercoat I believe.
It is essentially a layer of plastic dust that is sprayed onto the frame and stick, its then all melted together in the oven forming a 'shell'. Gloss and strength is dependant upon what the paint powder consists of.

Scott's non massive polo bike quite nice, if it holds up well I might consider one.

Loving mine, no issues yet, but I don't ride it a lot as I'm commuting ten miles to work, I usually used my geared bike for that. All the issues I've had so far were directly caused by my lack of foresight or inexperience in building bike.

still havent built mine. Feels light, and as it is sscx frame I doubt I could comment on the stiffness or ride quality that much, as there is a lot more variables than on a street skidder with 8 bars on the tyres
well, that's quite acceptable. i don't wanna know, how many guys gonna bite their asses for not asking for the new dropouts. haha!
