  • I have a PC with a blu-ray drive. I have my HTPC on the same network. Is there any way my HTPC can play back blu-rays using the PC blu-ray drive? Wired network so speed shouldn't be an issue.

  • Is it likely that a pretty novice cyclist like myself would feel the benefits of a hed3 or other more aero wheels over 1 lap of regents park?

Or do you reckon it's placebo, because I put the hed 3 tub on for my last lap today and I managed to take a fair bit of time off it, it was the fastest lap I have ever done.

  • Likely to be a placebo. Tried it with a 12yr old kid before. His racing wheels were very nice but not carbon. As a test we put a 4spoke and a disc on his bike. Everything improved.

vlc can play from networked drives i think, never tried it myself but worth starting there.

What you can feel is irrelevant. You can measure stuff that's way below the perception limit of even an experienced cyclist.

  • The fork I am getting is designed for a 140mm disc, is running a 160mm as simple as spacing the caliper out slightly?

  • These should do the trick if the fork and caliper is post mount.

  • Fucking amazon links.

  • It might depend a bit more on what brakes you have, get a mount designed for whatever you'll be running.

  • Grazie

  • Or hack it with spacers.

You're welcome to put a 4 spoke and a disc on mine :)
If it makes me faster that's good enough.

Thank you for the reply, I think I should have added the question of weather or not you thought it was worthwhile to purchase a more aero wheelset for my first real season of track.

  • Or use your foot on the tyre.

  • @ Snotter: Good question- I was going to run my Hope V-Twin, but I'm looking at Hayes CX5 currently.

  • my first real season of track.

Always remember the phrase 'all the gear, no idea' when you begin any new venture.

Ellipses will be good enough until somebody else starts paying for your wheels.

I've gone far too far with that already I am pretty sure.

    Thanks.
Ellipses seem pretty expensive for what they are (or appear to be) any real reason for going with them and not these?

  • I think we've definitely missed out on hippy buying a shiv related banter.

  • Morning all, i swear i tried the search, but unsuccessful, on phone only...
Beside LMNH, and ignoring the big ones like Evans who won't have what i need (specific super long campag chairing bolt (the long one that screws onto the back of the main crank arm, on a record crankset), any good bike shops open on Sunday?

  • London Cycle Workshop (Clapham Junction) is, but ring ahead.

    So is Tokyo Fixed

  • Bit of a hike but Sigma Sport have a huge workshop and open from 12

  • Thanks!

Not really. Or you could go for 24h On-One Novatecs and Kinlin XR300/Halo Mercury if you want clinchers, for a bit less than V-Sprints if you self-build.

  • I'm pretty set on going tubular for various reasons, I'm not keen on building these up as my first wheelset though. A little sceptical about the low spoke counts too.

What would the max weight be for an average 20/24 set like the V sprints be do you reckon?

    Thanks for all the help.
