or, cut it down and instal a 1 inch threadless headset then you can use an ahead stem...?

any good bike shop will be able to cut more thread on to the fork for you and it is quite straight forward.

^this, its not a serious problem to fix but might cost a few £ in labour in some shops

Thanks for advice boys, did think about the ahead way but some have advised me against, though not clear what the issue was! Want to keep current quill stem and lbs has confirmed they can "tap" more thread and cut off rest. Says a "mate" will do it, I'm hoping that's code for free or cheap!!
My 1 inch threaded precisa fork is too long for my colnago and wondering what I can do about it apart from buying a more suitable sized on. Without giving out exact measurements the fork is too long by about 2 inches. If I cut it down I won't have any thread left. I have researched the web and most suggest rethreading it. Is this a acceptable method? Are there any downsides?
