more fun, if you have any mechanical sympathy, on a cross bike - rough surfaces/ off road sections much more fun if you can go fast and be confident that your bike is not going to break.

You will get mocked though. And rightly so - it's not really within the spirit of the ride. Bit gutted that it clashes with the Ldn classic this year - would have liked to have completed it on the 'right' bike.
