I've had a pair of these

for nearly 3 years now and they're still going strong after 5,000+ miles. Also very easy to walk in compared with normal road cleat shoes.

edit: if you're going to Brighton and want to be able to climb the last hill - flat pedals and trainers really won't cut it.
