Next step, HED Ardennes (17.5mm internal) with Hope or Velocity A23 (17.8mm internal) with Strada, they both cost the same, but the latter is slightly lighter.
Obviously HED being HED, it's pretty much a straighforward choice, the only downside is that the spokes aren't as easily replacable.
The other problem is that the width isn't enough to take advantage of the 29c tyres, it work best on 23c, the Mavic A719 is 25mm wide make it great with 25mm tyres and fairly well with 29c, the downside is I'm not sure if the brakes will be able to work with that width.
