  • A couple of months back I sold a bike I had built up to a guy who was still gutted from having his bike stolen a couple of days previously.

Yesterday I was heading out of work on my lunch break when I saw the bike I had sold, and caught the end of a guy saying '...got my stolen bike back, the guys had just locked it up outside the police station'.

I said 'that's not stolen, I built that', thinking someone had stolen another bike, this time the one I had sold, off the guy. Then he turned around and it turned out it was in fact the guy I had sold it to, who had just recovered his stolen bike, and had pushed that and the one I had sold him into the shop together.

It apparently 'belonged' to an Evening Standard seller, but the guy had told the police, who had put a lock on it for him, and told the vendor he shouldn't have bought a bike for £50 from a market - if it wasn't him who stole it himself. The bar tape and saddle hadn't even been changed.

    tl;dr - a happy ending for once
