Managed to get the straps through in the end, thanks to the advice on PR's excellent thread, then stole the fixings from an old set of clips in the parts bin, so:
I finally now have pedals with clips, straps, buttons and fixings all in place, and all joined together on the end the cranks where they belong. That felt like a mission.... One day I'll find cleaner looking dust caps, but for now this bike is fucking DONE!!!!
I'll do some proper photos later in the week when I have time to take it somewhere scenic and make it look pretty.
