I have one of those presseses, but prefer a rubber mallet to insert h/s cups, hear of one poor soul who crushed the head tube with a h/s press

I wouldn't of thought that possible? Maybe the multiple sized wedge design cause the problem?

I've suddenly forgotten whether you're supposed to lightly grease a press-fit headset or not.. I'd imagine not but i'd hate to come back to a fused one.

I always do, even when they suggest not to :/

The Cyclus headset press is pretty decent, I've used mine a few times (and lent it out a few times) so I feel it's been worth it. I think you'd have to be pretty ham-fisted to damage a headtube with it...
If you're a Chris King sort of person though, you need an extra adaptor to press the cups in without damaging the bearings, which is another £20+ per size of headset if you buy CK's own.

dj would probably buy this.
Good point about the cup remover tool. I've had plenty of success in the past with a delicate screwdriver and hammer job (I'm more a calculating and careful fiddler as a posed to twat it with a hammer type).
Park tool RT-1 might be on the cards too, if I can find one sub £30.
I guess it's not so much the cost really. Which I guess answers my own question. If I can get both tools for sub £65 then I think I'll go for it. I'll get use out of them in the future, as I think I like projects more than I like riding at the moment! And also I have a number of friends who would no doubt want to use them in time.
