That is not a dress watch.

• #7378

I think it's a nice looking watch apart from two horrendous problems. One of which is my brand snobbery. The other is the fact it seems to need to remind the wearer that 7 comes after 6 and before 8.
Other than the logo that I wouldn't wear on my pants and the date window that assumes that you can't add or subtract by one, it's a nice looking dress watch.

the 3 number thing i like. its not the only watch to do it. its something different.
cK is a fashion brand. I were it on my pants and on my belt and shirts. its fashion.

Brand snobbery aside, not a bad looking timepiece. But dress watch it aint. For starters its a chrono. Whaddya need to time, how long it takes to eat an after eight? Its too big, too busy, too flashy etc. Dress watches should be subtle, not huge dial, gold case, black leather strap for preference, no numerals or date required. Even Sumo's example looks a bit chunky.

Nope, movement is fine, always has been.
So, hang on, what's the problem excatly, apart from the bezel?
-
• #7393
Hang on, I'm wearing CK boxer briefs... Does that make me a hypocrite?
-
• #7394
Each part in the movement must haz an NJS stamp on it too... Otherwise it won't cut the mustard at the table. Also a leather strap is a definite no-no. Must be cut from the under-belly of a live young African croc (not your cheap American 'gator) to get the correct sheen.
Which all means that i agree; none of those are dress watches.

Scratched screen. I have had it for nearly 19 years, worn it every day for all of those years. It's never had a service yet so might as well service it while it's at Tag I guess. They said it needed one (they would).

Well it's up to you I suppose, but it sounds awfully steep t me.
They very probably won't touchthe movement as quartz movements are often treated as disposable items.
Which means you'll be getting a new crystal and bezel, plus maybe a case and strap polish.
If it were me, I'd get a second opinion, but it's up to you of course. I'd at least try and find out the price of a bezel and crystal.

Bit hard to get a 2nd opinion since the watch is already at Tag, if I have it returned untouched I'll lose the deposit.
The strap is not the original steel bracelet anyway.Fuck it, this time I'll let them do it. At least it is Tag doing the work. Next time I'll shop around though.
I'll post a pic up when I get it back.

So I need a new strap for my watch I don't know how/why but the leather has started to perish quite quick - had it 2 years this year.
Could it be a result of cycling/ sleeping possibly getting sweaty around the watch strap?
This is the watch I've got (fantastic little thing, nice and durable, love not having a battery to worry about-
