• SOLD!!!

up for sale is my 1978 Benotto Modello 2000, team colour as seen in " A sunday in hell".
This is not the cheapo bike that has become famous for cracking in the 80s..

    seattube 58cm
    toptube 58cm

frame is Columbus SL, Campagnolo Gran Sport groupset except brakes which are Modolo Speedy ( of course the lever hoods need replacement)
Gran Sport 27.2 seatpost, San Marco Gilux saddle
wheels are Ambrosio Montreal /Record hub at the front, rear is Super Champion Arc-en-ciel with Shimano 600 hub, 6 speed
Sakae Road Champion bar with SR stem
unfortunately the pedals don't belong to the bike, if needed I'll include a pair of early 80s LOOK pedals , or a nice pair of GS Track pedals with cage/strap( cut down road pedals)

as you can see in the deatiled pictures this bike has seen a fair amount of use, but I never liked the idea of repainting since it still looks classy and it runs great.
It is rather light, actually it feels lighther than my Colnago Super which is nearly indentical except it has a Super Record.

The bike is located in Germany, I'll ship worldwide at cost, for example GB is 40 GBP.

  • Actually that is not the bike in the film, the one in the fils has the diamond shaped chainstays typical of a Benotto Modelo 3000. This bike has the shrunk stays.

  • the one in the film is the model 3000...the diamond chain stays were specifically made to cope with the Hell of the North...
    I had one...and am 10x gutted I don't anymore...I had the matching track frame...and am about 30x gutted I don't have that anymore...

    shit and bollox...

    1. Lower stem
    2. Freeze in Carbonite
  • I have a Benotto colection of all sorts, it is mostly for Bike shows and such.
    Cheers.

Anything is for sale for the right price. But this one is not for sale at the moment.

  • I've got this one which Benotto3000 has confirmed is a 5000 model we are unsure if it was made in Mexico or Italy. and Benotto3000 tells me its been resprayed in the wrong colour & has been fitted with incorrect repro decals for the 5000 model. If Anyone else has any more information it would be greatly appreciated. PM me please any help & info.
    Thanks

  • hey

just from the quality and the finish of the lugs and the work around the seat stay wishbone, and the chain stays...and then look at the model 3000 above...and look at the bottom headtube lugs on that and yours...they are the same...the later lugs were heavier...they were not as well linished....thts the difference between good work and better work...when you file the points on the lugs down to tiny skinny points...and then attack them with emery just to make them finer...I would say it was italian...

the finish on the mexican frames wasn't half as crisp...they were good, tho the quality of the work overall wasn't as good...

If i am wrong then so be it...tho I really think its' older...the chrome was better on the earlier ones too...

  • Back in the day, I remember diamond shaped chainstays being supposedly the mark of a DeRosa built frame, my friend had a 'de rosa Moser'.

  • The reason why Benotto had diamond stays was because of De Rosa's exclusivity with Columbus. As you may know De Rosa built many bikes for Benotto.

    Cheers.
