I had, initially, screwed the b-limit screw right in, as with the chain off that was the only way for the upper pulley to clear the cassette, but with the chain on I unscrewed the b-limit, and it's now fully out- the chain tension stops it from hitting the sprocket.
I do not, however, think that this is a good idea, but I'm a bit at sea with this- it works perfectly.
