Congrats on your Benotto Drøn, it's a beaut! It's either a 1700 or a 2700 i guess. Did you restore it?
-

thanks.
no it's original paint I believe. although it had colnago stickers on it when I bought it.

Can someone rectify my spoke length calculation? It's the first time i'm doing it all by myself and i found it a bit strange that the length difference for the rear wheel left side is only .6mm? I've got the data from Sheldon Brown's Excel file.
I've attached screenshots of the calculation.

I guess i can't go wrong on this:

Those bars were one hell of a find!
-
• #41
Yeah, and i guess the guy who sold them (i've bought 2 NOS) doesn't research how much they go for ;-)
-
• #42
Fuck me those bars are nice.

Ace. BTW how is the bar tape finished? It's wrapped from the stem AND over the bar plugs? How it's held together at the bar ends?
-
• #44
yep, it ends over the plugs with a little piece of transparent tape.. not sure how to manage it otherwise :)

I love this thread tho it's depressing...I so wanted to keep the 3000 pista I had tho it's always nice to see benotto track frames...there aren't that many about...;D thanks for sharing!

You're supposed to heat the ends of the tape with a lighter or something and sort of melt it together.
-

I've seen it done with the benotto tape wrapped into the bar end and then the end caps/cups actually squished into the bar end, like you would with a normal end plug so you just get the shoulder of the cup/cap showing and its super neat.
I'm sure it was a dutch guy (?) on here with some yellow and white benotto tape, tho it was about 3 years ago and I haven't the foggiest who it was now.
I have to say I like the look of this one too, and yes those cinelli shields look lush. -

I did mine by using regular bar plugs, which seems to work well enough
-
• #49
And of course you reverse wrap em... starting from the stem end...
Love this build. -

a little update on the Benotto, gathered almost all parts. I have to sell one of my kidneys to obtain a set of NOS Campagnolo pista pedals, so i'd rather go for this option:
Will look nice with the dark blue Binda straps.
he's based in france now:)
