A mate is having his stag "do" in Morzine in mid April. All my mates are going and they're all boarding. I used to board, but haven't for the last 8 years since we've had kids, so me and my brother decided to leave the boards at home, take the bikes instead and enjoy the days riding in the mountains and the general stag duties in the evenings.
Originally we assumed that we'd hire a car and head further down the mountain to the foothills to get to warmer and less icy roads. However on closer inspection car hire is astronomical and the snow in mid April is reported to be more slush than snow in Morzine, so I'm thinking the roads will be well clear of slippery stuff, so we can head straight out down the mountain on the bikes.
Anyone got any experience of this? Am I kidding myself that the roads will be safe? I'm expecting to have to take warm/waterproof riding gear. Or are we better suffering the hire car costs for warmer safer riding?

Thanks in advance. Damian.
