Friend just got some good/bad news - but good to know the CTF is out there:
Hi,
Just a quick email in relation to the theft of your bike and padlock. I understand that you indentified your bike on gumtree and have a picture of the advert? I am investigating the seller that advertised your bike. Surprise surprise he was advertising more stolen bikes so I went and arrested him and recovered 5 more stolen bikes! Unfortunately none of these were your allez but I would still like to get a statement from you in relation to you identifying your bike being sold by this chap as it would add to all the evidence I am stacking up against him! Would you be willing to provide one? Have a look at the statement I have attached, they are very simple. You would just need to describe how you identified your bike in the statement rather than using the frame number.
