Braker has a good Bristol route somewhere - let me try and dig it out.

Ta da!
Poots, if you want to ride to Bristol, have a look at this route which is well trodden... pretty flat with a couple of awesome descents, and easy to bail-out at Bath if req.
The Bath canal path and cycle bath linking to Bristol are aces btw

Result, been looking for a good Bristol route, nice one poots/braker
@ OP: Been thinking about doing pretty much the same thing with a few other folks, not sure about London to Bristol in one day, though - might split it

Poots / Braker - thanks for the route. I see it starts from Farnborough. I had a look as well and similarly concluded that a quick train to perhaps Ascot or somewhere similar would miss a whole load of crap riding.
Chatters - I'll be riding geared, Braker's route above is only 108 miles. With a nice early start it is a solid ride but not the end of the world.
Anyone else - is the A4 a bad idea? I'm wondering if as a result of the M4 taking most of the major traffic heading west whether following the A4 all the way from Ascot to Chippenham then the A420 onwards into Bristol would do the job.

I've done A4 Bath-London and Braker's route. Braker's route is a beaut. A4 a real chore. Gets the job done, but no fun really. Reckon in a small group you could do it in 8-9 hours easy.
Would anyone like to join me to ride to Bristol from London to then spend some time dribbling over bike pr0n?
The plan:
Leave London early morning on Saturday 13th April, a steady ride to Bristol to arrive some time in the afternoon. If I can't stay with a friend, I'll book into the YHA in town. Beers and relaxation Sat. evening
Go to Bespoked on Sunday, jump on a train late afternoon back to London.
I am not at work on the Monday, so I could be interested in riding back if anyone else fancied it.
I am happy to plan a route, but would welcome input if you have ridden out to Bristol before.
