I spent the last few weeks burning holes into my eyes searching ebay for bikes and lfgss for information on bikes. Many thanks by the way. This forum is full of good info.
I had whittled my desires down to a Colnago or a Merckx from the 80s or 90s. Nostalgia had kicked in, as I was subconsciously finding bikes that were from the era when I first got interested in cycling.
I found a Merck in Kelme colours on ebay. A few emails were exchanged. A bid was made. But no joy. The seller wasn't budging from £550. And I didn't have that.
Despondency.
Start again.
Burning more holes into my eyeballs.
And then I found another one. In Telekom colours. I like that. Only problem, it was a full bike on ebay for over £1000.
I sent a tentative email to the seller, enquiring about a split. And to my joy, he was very receptive. He made a suggestion, I made a suggestion. And bingo, a deal was struck.

Happy days.
The seller was a joy to deal with as well.
