Damaged NJS frames?

Posted on
  • Hi all,

will soon have the chance to bring a few NJS frames from Japan, but fairly sure most of them will be damaged in some way (usually the top tube dented and a few scuffs). It's also a chance to get a little more involved with what I love!

Does a damaged NJS frame put you off?

Would you buy a damaged frame?

What puts you off about buying from Japan?

Would you purchase a NJS frame if it was here in the UK?

So I don't get banned for advertising, I'd just like to say I'm not disclosing where these frames will be available if I do purchase a few, nor will I reply to a PM asking where they can be purchased

  • I thought you were up to something when you were asking about the most popular sizes:)
    good luck!

  • Does a damaged NJS frame put you off? No

Would you buy a damaged frame? Probably

What puts you off about buying from Japan? Tax/Shipping

Would you purchase a NJS frame if it was here in the UK? Yes, but it it worked out more than the shipping+tax just for the sake of it being in the UK, then get from japan.

  • Yes
    No

  • No. Steel is real. But it depends how bad. Mine has a tiny tiny ding that isn't even noticeable, aesthetically and I doubt structurally.

    I have.

Nothing - I've ordered from Japan frequently.

Both of my NJS frames have been purchased in the UK at good prices. Prices that would be the same had I ordered it from Japanland.

    Yes
    I'm a racist
Well not if I don't know where to buy it from jeez

  • Damage puts me off bigtime, I think you might do well to pick out frames with dents that are minor and can be potentially "rolled out".

Then borrow/buy the equipment to roll out the dents and attempt to fix them all.

  • Doesn't put me off - but depends how bad. I bought mine with 2 small dents on the seat stays where the previous rider apparently attached a clamp-on rear brake. Other than that, perfect.

    I have.

Not much. Ordered a few times.

Don't live in UK so don't see the point.

Nothing - I bought mine in Japan
    Hipster tax.

  • If I had money and it was in my size I'd buy and NJS frame from almost anywhere, dings or no dings.

  • I don't like dents, if I were to buy another NJS frame I would want it to be as close to perfect as possible.

Having had NJS though, I think next I'll be going upmarket British.
