The reason people say that Nitto stems are longer is because they are measured c to c along the side of the extension rather than on top, which was the norm for other brands. And this is only for the level (-17) quill stems such as the Pearl and Dynamic. Those stems measure out about 6-7mm longer than a similar nominal size of another quill like Cinelli, 3ttt, etc, because the measurement along the side is considerably different than on top, because of the angle.
So a Pearl 9 is approx 97mm long measured c-c across the top.
