where to take bike for day trip out of london

i have booked a day off work this week and am thinking of taking my bike on a train out of london and riding around a town or two. anyone done anything similar or can recommend any towns that may be worth taking a bike to? (want to see something different not just ride hence why taking train)

The suffolk and norfolk coasts are nice (if the weather behaves), plenty of small towns, pubs and eateries enroute, and many railway stations.

Train to Herne Bay and ride traffic-free to Ramsgate on the sea wall, then continue semi-traffic-free to Deal.

Lots of the Borough groups do day trips, you can check out their back-rides on their websites. I've done a few. Dengie Marsh was a good one.
