My friend has some lovely gear on ebay, selling his restored frames collection, they are beautifully painted by Mario Vaz at great expense... full waterslide transfers under lacquer, correct year paintjobs and history/numbers on most I believe. There's also a Ti Raleigh Team replica which was my dream bike back in the day.

I had dealings with the seller when I less knowledgeable and more keen; now that has changed I would tread carefully.

Not saying that he is a conman, just a mercenary, soulless, full of shit, sell-sell-sell type.

He does get some nice stuff, but you will pay dearly for it and it wouldn't surprise me if there wasn't a ageing ex-pro somewhere in the Netherlands with a shell-shocked look on his face and an empty garage.

Funnily enough I was speaking to this seller a few days ago. He had a Merckx Corsa Extra frame listed at £550 BIN. His messages to me were very "if you like this, you'd best snap it up, it won't be around long".

I didn't snap it up.

Not wholly defending him, but I bought my Eddy Merckx extra corsa from him couple of years ago for £250 and picked it up from him. Nice guy sat in his garden drinking tea and talking bikes and his sons aim to be a pro rider.
He gets his stuff from Holland from bike shops from old racers from the 80's 90's that trade in their racers for Dutchie style bikes.

His prices have gone up a lot since then mind.

Ah well, easy to read into stuff when it's online. He might be an all round good egg as far as I know.

And his stuff was/is undeniably nice.

Fair enough, I was probably revealing as much about my prejudices as I was about the seller.

He told me about his Son too, but I took that as sales patter.

If the seller reads this, then I apologise.

It's not too late to miss out on this bargain . . . . . . .
