I've just started commuting from near tooting Bec to Walton-on-Thames, Following CS7 to south wimbledon, then through merton, raynes park, kingston, hampton court and finally into walton.
Past Raynes park it's fine, but the first section on the CS7 is slow and dangerous, with busy backed up traffic, lots of filtering, lemming peds, and serious bottle necks by Colliers wood, and around the tram crossing in Merton. Oddly enough it feels more dangerous than when I used to live in london and commute from bow to shepherds bush.
I'm thinking of instead heading past the the dog track and down plough lane/gap road and cutting through Wimbledon. Does anyone do this route, whats it like at rush hour? Also, any other suggestions would be welcome. I don't mind doing a bit more distance (within reason) If it's a bit safer.
