A better solution would be a sloping top tube and a longer headtube I would think. Just thought a pro-rider would have a better fit

But a horizontal top tube on a CX bike is easier to shoulder.

Don't think there were many sloped top tube CX bike around let alone road bike back in the early noughtie.

On a track bike the logo must be on the near side (none chainwheel)
Road bike on chainwheel side.
