• Hey Amey,

Some of this might not be relevant but if you're wanting to future proof it for Alfine Di2 upgrade then there's a few things to check and include in the frame design especially if you want to route it all internally for a clean look...

    • Clearance of the wire/s over the BB sleeve. It's too tight on a standard threaded steel BB shell and a Shimano HTII BB (not sure about how Sram measure up). We had to go to a Shimano press-fit BB86 to eek out more clearance.

    • There's a big ol' hole required in the BB shell where the downtube meets it in order to give enough room to push the junction box up into the downtube. There are also specific sized holes for where the chainstay and seattube meet the BB shell (to enable the wire to be passed through). Sometimes the standard sized gas breathe holes are big enough but you might want to check.

    • The new seatpost mounted battery now means for an Alfine Di2 setup you can get away with just one entry (top of downtube) and one exit (end of driveside chainstay) as there's no exit required for the front mech. Super clean.

    Hope this helps
