Surely this makes people want a shiny new bike...

I will bring this to Mrs Ludd's attention. It's her birthday soon. We're just over the hill in SE23.

Ludd, this is a great bike I had a look / ride with the lady friend, its mint condition and is even better in real life, the photos dont really do it justice

Yep, in fact it's similar to the paramount that I looked at for myself some years back. The advantages this has over Mrs Ludd's current bike (a British Eagle "Cambridge" with 8sp nexus hub) are that it's in better condition and has a lower tube - or top tubes, I should say. It would be a fairly pricy upgrade but I guess we could sell the old bike.

There's definite interest from Mrs Ludd, she's asking all sorts of questions about it now. They include:
(a) what's that square thing at the base of the stem - is it a bracket for a child seat? (our youngest is 14...)
(b) how much does it weigh?
-

The square on the stem is indeed for a baby seat (used once, not popular) and I have since whipped it off.
Just in case anyone watching is in the market, it is one of these in black and would be available by separate negotiation...
I prefer a rear-mounted seat as my legs are too long.
Weight-wise I'm not 100% sure. Quite a bit less than a 'normal' Pashley as this was a concern when we bought it, I would guess at 13-14kg based on experience but it is really just a guess. Best to lift it yourself!

Sold to Ludd. Thanks for all the interest and help guys, and I hope Mrs Ludd gets a lot of enjoyment out of it.
Pashley Provence for sale (known the Penny for 2013). The bike was bought new from Velorution about 18 months ago and I would say has covered 25 miles in that time as life has been dominated by pregnancy and the arrival of a new little man. However, the end is in sight and my other half is determined to get back on the bike when she goes back to work - but she will need a Brompton for the new commute, so this must go.
Lovely metallic red, and when this was new it was a custom paint job with the sprayed matching mud and chainguards which were ordinarily silver/clear. For 2013 you get them in matching colours but this colour is no longer available so it really is a one-off. I replaced the stock bars with some nice swept risers to alter the fit slightly and I actually think they look great too. Spec wise you get the classic mixte frame, a 5spd SA hub with front & rear hub brakes which are very effective, quality Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres (practically new as you would expect) but not the Brooks I'm afraid, she wants to keep that, so I'll sort something else out unless you would prefer to add your own. Stored indoors since new too so I will try to give it a dust before it goes.
These are the lightest of the Pashleys and make a cracking low-maintenance town bike. The ride is spectacularly comfortable whenever I have tried it. Size-wise they are 1 size and fit most up to about 5'10".
Looking for £290 ono, collection from SE22.
Cheers.
