• Question is, did Tenners get it!?

  • Was just about to message you, will message him now.

  • Nooo. I got there and it was gone D:

  • RX100 is low end Shimano from the late 80s early 90s. Only RSX was below RX100 i think.

look for £30-£40 and be prepared to go down

  • rats, ok ta

  • Campag Mirage hubs on Ambrosio Prisma Elite clinchers with a 9-speed cassette + 23c Panasonic Panaracer slick tyres.

    any idea?

  • Nope but more if they will take 10/11 cassette so depends on year i guess.

  • I've got a Reynolds 731 frame with 531 fork, and Dura-Ace, Campagnolo, Mavic components.

I was planning to strip it all down and convert it in to a Fixie back in December. I started, but then my business took-off and my free time was reduced to 0.

Now I'm looking to sell it. But, judging by the photos, do you think any one would buy it? (I'm a total newbie, so I have no idea!)

FRAME: Reynolds 731 (manganese-moly steel, same as 531) FORK: Reynolds 531 (Top tube measures 23 inches / 54cm)

    CRANK SET: Dura Ace
    WHEELS: Mavic CXP30 deep rim
    HUB: Dura Ace
    HANDLEBARS: Cinelli Criterium
    STEM: Cinelli
    BRAKE LEVERS: Campagnolo
    FRONT BRAKE: Suntour Superbe
    REAR BRAKE: CAMPAGNOLO
    GEAR LEVERS: Dura Ace
    REAR MECH: Dura Ace
    HEADSET: Mavic
    SEAT: Specialized
    CHAIN: PC40

  • Blah blah...do you think any one would buy it?...

Yes, stick it here for a better idea. Looks like a nice frame with some good bits. I don't know much about Hardisty Cycles except that they used to sponsor Jason McRoy. A seat tube measurement would be useful.

  • Nice frame, nice kit - I'm sure you'd get plenty of interest. Hardisty's were a Newcastle-based shop, located where the Edinburgh Bicycle Co-Op is now. Kevin Winter built frames for them at one point, but they did buy in & re-badge others too - I used to have a Saba frame they had re-badged.

  • The frame was my dad's. He bought it from one of the Hardisty team riders and paid big bucks for it back in about '95-'96. From memory, I'm sure it was around the £2K mark!

It hadn't been used for a decade until I picked it up last year, and in all honesty - I wish I hadn't started to dismantle it!!

ffm, thanks I will advertise it soon. Any ideas on what price I should put on it?

  • The Dura Ace on it is from between 1990 and 1993 so those dates sound about right.

Given its history, and the fact it used to be your Dad's, are you sure you want to sell it?

If the parts were polished up, the frame t-cut and it serviced and all put back together it would be very nice (and original). If you haven't got the time you could just pay someone to service it and put it back together as your business is taking off?

If you're still sure you want to sell it, given it's all original you could sell it on http://www.retrobike.co.uk/ if it doesn't sell here. Or if you just want the most cash split it, but that would be a shame...

  • Was going to post something about 731 tubeset and at same time I looked up Hardisty Cycles and came across your posting on CycleChat about this so you already have pretty much all the information you are likely to get about this. Interestingly, a citizen of this parish, Scilly Suffolk posted on your CycleChat thread, why not contact him as he was interested?

  • So you must be the mate of the guy who posted this?

It looks like the seatpost is still stuck, which will put some people off.

Being as it's already in bits, you might as well sell the frameset, wheelset and components separately.

  • Thanks for the information everyone...

It's really interesting to see that link. That's my bike all right!

Popped it in to a local bike shop to see if they could remove the stuck seat post, who passed it on to some welder who worked next door.. I am presuming it is he who took the photographs of the bike in search of help.

We never could get the post unstuck, which is probably why I lost faith in restoring it.

Looking at those pics now, I wish I never took it to pieces! It's nice to see the comments about the bike as I was under the impression that such a bike would be worthless now!

  • i have a shimano 600 arabesque groupset (except hubs) and a campa veloce 8speed groupset (only brakes are athena), what is a decent price for this stuff?

  • How much do you recon for some DA 7803 9 speed shifters? In really very good condition.
    These ones

  • I have this. Bought for a friend about five years ago. Friend never paid, so I got lumbered. I'd like to see the back of it this year. Not really sure what to sell it for?

I would keep it, but any of you that have met me will know it's a teensy bit small.

  • Damn I'd offer to buy that off you if it were a lot bigger, looks nice.
I don't know much about road bikes but I'd say around £400 shouldn't be too hard.

  • ^ Really? It's unmarked and done about 4 -5 miles :-/

  • I wouldn't even know tbh so don't listen to me.
It is around 8 years old though.

  • 2006 model, if I remember correctly.

I wouldn't even know tbh so don't listen to me.

    Well if I knew, I wouldn't be asking ;-)

  • Ah well 2006 was 7 years ago but they usually release models around the end of the year before so 8 years isn't stretching that too much.
I've seen the new model sell for £950 brand new on eBay but that's alloy not carbon.
