  • Hmm. I think most people with the equipment to do that would know that trick. But ok.

Let's just say that no security bolts are impossible to remove with suitable equipment and time, once the bike has been stolen.

  • I know nothing is completely safe, but I have thought long and hard about this, and wondered how you would be able to remove them, even with any tool in an arsenal. I know Patrick lost his prototype key once, and nothing he could do could loosen the bolts, and until he found the key again he was f'ed. If he can't do it and he's the designer, I don't really know who could.

    Dremel or drill.

You can always remove something if you're willing to introduce a little destruction to do so.

  • Theres a secret trend emerging, but yes I agree with you.

  • I'm a completely satisfied customer of Atomic22. My bike is near completely secure with their product.

I happen to hear about them from this forum. I'm living out here in Southern California and my first bike project was stolen a little while ago.

After months of research, I decided to pull the trigger and make the purchase. Let me first say these are hands down the best looking yet functional security option that is currently out there at the moment. The quality is breath taking... I know they are just bolts but you won't understand until you receive and open the package. In regards to customer service, they exceeded expectations. One thing I really appreciate is, these guys/gals are thorough!!! I've personally dealt with Patrick and Ayantika. I could go into details but I don't want to continue the long rant I already started. Lets just say they went out of their way for me.

I'm currently testing out a discrete bicycle alarm system that will notify me if my bike is being tampered with. With a good bicycle lock, Atomic22 security and hopefully this alarm, you will buy yourself enough time to prevent theft even from the professional.

Please stop by and take a look.

  • What the hell? I take it back, you're definitely a spokesperson for Atomic22.

Otherwise known as a motorcycle disc brake alarm padlock.

Ed I think you have made a huge assumption there
I am currently testing something that sends me a text if my bike moves, and then a text with a gps position at regular intervals till I get my bike back. Maybe he is testing something similar
What makes you think this guy deserves your ridiculing before you know anything about him or what he is using?

Sorry, I'm not affiliated with that Atomic22 outside of being a customer. Look at their product compared to whats out there... If you have an eye for quality, no explanation needed. I'm just stating facts.

Oh and just for the record, I work in healthcare. My job is to keep you alive.

Thank you! Yes, i'm testing a similar product in which you described above.

Not much use to me if you are in Southern California

  • Not much use to me if you are in Southern California

Thank you for pointing that out.

  • Hope no one minds me bumping this back up but what do folk think about the pricing of this? £19 for one chain ring bolt... £19? I was only checking out there website and just interested but thats 95 for 5 chain ring bolts? Isn't that a bit ludicrous?

  • would you need all the chainring bolts, i assume one would be enough of a deterrent

  • You only need one to stop your chainring being nicked.
yeah, they're expensive, but they're in a league of their own.

  • True... I daren't think how much it would cost to secure the entire bike... Pedal locks are £80!

  • It is a product aimed at people with expensive bikes.

So chose to protect things selectively.

If your chainring costs £30 don't worry about a bolt for it.

If it is a premier tier group set and the bike is locked outside it may be required.

  • I got the Mash x Atomic 22 kit, and I love it for a few reasons. I like not having to carry a second lock to lock my front wheel to my frame. It puts me at ease that my stem/bars/ fork can't be stolen. And the best thing about the kit is how long it takes to install it. I have a few bikes all with Thomson seatpost collars, stems, and Phil Wood hubs. Within 5 minutes I can have all of the bolts replaced with the Atomic 22 bolts, and that bike is way more secure. If I'm doing any bike touring or heading somewhere that may be a bit riskier, it offers some peace of mind.

  • I guess it's a life time's worth of assurance...

  • It's expensive because it's custom CNC-ed titanium. Personally I don't see it as viable to kit an entire bike out with it and assume it's completely safe from thieves on the streets of London. If the frame or components are valuable enough, it's going to be worth someone cutting the lock / stand / frame / seatpost and dealing with the bolts later.

I do think it's excellent for securing a few key bits on a bike you regularly lock up, particularly seatpost / saddle, and stem / steerer.

  • Atomic22 seems amazingly well made, but any bike I had worth enough to need it would never get locked outside.

  • I'm looking at the tribe system at the moment, Patrick's been really hekpful. Still a lot of cash though - any more reports from users on the effectiveness of it? The full stop posts above have me questioning it
