David! during previous e-mail exchanges between us, you seemed a reasonable sort of fella, your comment above however marks you out as an overly precious grade one tosser!!!
Actually that's a bunch of bull. People may put a dibs in a thread to let them know that they're communicating with the seller and attempting to make a purchase, but what is very well established is that something is only sold when the seller has accepted payment from someone, and that the seller may accept (or refuse) payment from anyone they choose.
Agreed! I'd never come across the expression 'dibs followed by pm' before viewing the vast majority of ads on THIS SITE, it's a convention that is very well used, 'bull' is most certainly isn't!
Dibs is worthless, it just fills a gap in a bit of software that doesn't show who the interested parties are.
**a) though it does prevent others from wasting their time expressing an interest in an item which has already been 'spoken for and,
b) if the practice is so worthless, you're the admin, why not simply ban it?
**
The correct order is: cash-on-delivery, bank transfer, PayPal (not gifted), PM promise (by seller, not buyer).
?? where did this 'David directive' come from, the back of a fag packet you just wrote on ??
Dibs isn't even on the list, dibs isn't even part of the process... it's just a very polite way of showing that there is a queue of interested parties, and means nothing beyond that.
**Balls mate!! why if that's the case do interested parties state specifically 1st 2nd 3rd dibs etc?? **
The seller can sell to whomever he chooses, though purposefully permitting gazumping will get a scolding on the third or fourth occasion.
A 'scolding' ......... easy tiger!!
Seriously though, wind your neck back in.
