By that i mean finding long cycle paths (like our guided busway) to do laps/circuits on.
The guided busway track is the most frustrating place you could possibly ride.
Beautifully smooth, traffic free flat tarmac that means anyone with drops can maintain evens, but punctuated every couple of miles or less by road crossings and metal barrier chicanes to slow you down to a near halt.
It could have been so glorious.

^ i know. At the moment the section between Swavesey and Stives is underwater.
I am thinking of other places locally to try as an option. I want this bike to be fixed only with only front brake so not ideal for a long on-road slog to a suitable pathway.
Anyway. Better keep looking for a frame. -

Picked up a front wheel today from marxist-vulcan on the forum. Blb hub.sapim spokes and a velocity rim. Might be good for this project. If not ill bung it on my ss commuter.
As my tourer nears completion, and i realise a life without gears is a good one, i have a plan for a new project.
I want to put together a track bike for weekend rides. By that i mean finding long cycle paths (like our guided busway) to do laps/circuits on.
As money is always fairly tight, this will have to be a carefully considered and well researched build.
Frame does not have to be new. A good second hand track frame will do.
Will be running a front brake.
Happy to mix components, all ideas welcome.
I am a six footer with a 33" inner leg (if that helps suggestions of particular frames).
I am not a serious Wiggo or Hoy, just doing this for fun and exercise.
Keeping my eyes open for a frame/frameset first and then go from there.
Watch this space.
