• There's a fundamental problem with your comment. Nobody is 'coaching riders to gold medals', they are coaching riders to be the best that they can be. At the moment, the talent means that the best those riders can be is usually on the podium. A professional coach is 100% concerned about the process, not the outcome. Get the process right and the outcome will take care of itself.

We have a coaching education structure in GB cycling which seems to have become the envy of the world, it's not just the huge pool of talented riders that are accessible, but also a lot of highly knowledgable coaching staff.

When you watch some of the lesser known nations, see how well (or how poorly) they execute technique. It's often very obviously behind the likes of GB, France, Germany etc even to the amateur eye. Therefore it's no surprise that the Indian cycling team were recently found to be using British coaching manuals from the 1970's.
you"ve totally missed my point, Braisford, Iain Dyer etc do coach them on a 4yr cycle tried & tested! They only have confidence and know it works, from the success they have had! They might not be coaching them on that day to Gold medals, but the training they do IS geared to hitting numbers to produce Gold..
