That lo pro is one of the first ridable (and well used) Gazelle Lo pros.
It was made in cooperation with Piet van der Kruijs, team manager of Jo van Aarle - Ecco team in 84 - 85.
Jelle Nijdam got a track version for LA84 and after that, the team got a few bikes for road use.
This one is from that 1st batch, for sure.
The fork crown doesn't have logos yet, and the cable routing is customized from Shimano AX brakes, although the team rode full Nuovo Record for the rest.
The dealer sticker on the seat tube is also a trade mark for the JvA team, although nobody except that dealer wanted the sticker.
Please do the bike justice. -

Hi,
I've posted this bike in the identification thread. I believe Peter was bidding on it as well. It seemed a Champion Mondial, but it's my first bike and I later found out it's probably something else. I though some of you might be interested in this mystery.

What years that, I have one the same just going in for a respray, Im the second owner, mid 80'S?. First was a good mate. He rode it as a junior in the 80s. He also rode Gazelle bikes in Het Volk (from memory, could be wrong), Junior Roubaix and Tour of Normandy too. We were looking through some pictures a few weeks back. Lovely frames, keep the pics coming!

Judging by colour, fork crown and top tube decal it's older.
Early 1980s or older.
Frame number will tell us more. -

Could anyone supply me info relating to this - it is a Champion Mondial AB Frame. I am wondering what age and what were the original components with the bike,
thanksRichard

Re above, having trawled through this thread, i found a piece of info which said that the cable routing was never through the tt unless it was done outside of the Gazelle factory - could anyone confirm this please. Also, the pic does not show it, but there are Dutch words vivible on the top tube which would appear to be the name of a club or team - opinion as to whether i should try and remove this or renew it and keep it - thanks again,
Richard

Gazelle did have through TT cabled frames made - in their own factory
if the paint is not totally shot, I'd keep it as close to original as possible. nothing wrong with a bit of patina

For many years, only top of the line frames (AA-Special, AA-Super and some early 753) had the rear brake cable routed through the TT.
Of course, this was done inside the GAzelle factory.
But many consumers wanted their cable routed through the TT when they had their older frame repainted and asked if this was possible.
For logical reasons, Gazelle refused to do this.
So, by that time, an A of AB frame (or even a Trophy category) with rear cable routed through the TT, was obviously treaded outside the factory.Later, Gazelle made new frames, even Formula range, with the rear brake cable running through the TT.
Based on the style of fork crown and decals, I think your AB is a later production, around 1989.
wow thats a lovely frame ^^
never seen one like that before
