I'm in the market for a second-hand singlespeed bike that would fit me at 5 feet 7 inches short.
I would consider paying up to maybe 450/500 although 300 is probably more appropriate as I dont want something Im going to worry too much about locking up.
Functionality and handling is at the top of the pile for me, it needs to work well and feel comfortable for my style of riding. I've owned and ridden plenty of bikes over the years and know that set up and compatibility between components is more important than how much they cost. That said, I am a bit of a ponce and do want the bike to look at least slightly sexy. I was very close to buying a new charge plug as for 400 quid its a lot of bike for the money but its slightly too dandy for me. I also spotted the Orbea dude which despite the ghastly paint job looks like its already set up pretty well for me, compact geometry, risers etc.
Im not really into the 70s/80s racing frame thing really I want a frame that was designed to be a singlespeed in the first place.
An upright riding position is what Im after and dont have the longest arms in the world even relative to my body so compact geometry will probably work best for me.
I'll consider fixies provided they can easily switched to a free wheel and have the provisions to run a front brake.
Apologies for waffling but hopefully it mean we dont waste each others time!
Oh yeh, must be in London so I can come and have a butchers
