I've contacted Mr Nigel from Campyoldy but he's not exactly bargainous. Also trying to track down some EAI ones from America but it looks like they're going to be a similarly ridiculous price.

EAI's preferred US dealer - www.benscycle.net - have offered me the set of four for $65 + postage, which isn't going to be cheap. Any idea what sort of price you'd be able to get them for?
Nigel at Campyoldy is £50 + £3 postage.
do you need front or back?
Both, sadly. I've sent you a PM.
I've also got an engineer friend who's looking into the possibility of making them himself. It's a bit pie-in-the-sky at the moment but he's certainly got the skills and if he can produce the goods, I've told him there's a potential market for his wares.

I have a rear set if you are interested.

Courtesy of gav, I now have rear nuts. So exciting. Thanks, gav.
However, I very much don't have front nuts. Trying to find them in London is like looking for truffles in a jungle.
Can anyone else help?

They are a current product (used on the Ghibli discs, Pista wheels and Pista hubs) so you should be able to purchase them from a Campagnolo dealer. A quick Google search and I found 3 dealers.

'Tis true, tis true. Thanks adman. It's this line that's putting me off:
One purchase gives One Nut
That makes it more than £40 for two track nuts, which is MADNESS. I don't think I'm being unreasonable in wanting to get them cheaper than that.

Ive always wondered this myself, I thought you had to buy the full axle set from EAI which included the nuts, they dont have them seperate.
Wheels Mfg make affordable 26tpi 10mm 174mm rear axles but only 110mm 26tpi 9mm fronts for quick release. they and Problem solvers make track nuts for most thread and axle sizes except 9/10mm 26tpi. if they can make 9.5mm 26tpi I dont understand why they wont do campy 9,10mm
theres another option instead of EAI, apparently Zeus bought the design for campy pista hubs, their hardware is 100% compatible but not as good in quality. Ive tested the zeus cones in a record pista hub and its a perfect fit, cones look identical except for the bearing race isnt as shiny.
that way you can use dura ace track nuts instead.theres probably other cones that are compatible, maybe sansin/suntour

Been baffled by it, too. I wanted to replace a campag qr front axle to a solid one but stumbled upon the same problem, http://www.flickr.com/photos/8379107@N03/sets/72157629074418478/with/6777917086/ something along the lines (getting a standard pitch/diameter track axle with some sleeve nuts and just use cartridge bearings) seems the best way besides from ordering a full front/rear set from EAI. Anyway, decided to just go for a security skewer.

for rear hubs it should be easy enough to use 6001/7001 bearings.
or 3 pi
Ive wanted to do the opposite, press some bearing races into a cartridge bearing hub! no good reason other than for the fun of ittheres also the magneto bearing option as used by Curtis Odom

This.
And that's why I've asked a bloke with the right gear to try and make a set. If he can, I reckon he'll be able to sell them pretty easily. Not in great numbers of course, but even at £10 per nut, he would be offering a 50% discount. Should be worth his while.
In the meantime, the search continues.

did you ever get your guy to make them?

Thanks for the reminder. Sadly the answer is no. He was too busy building a bridge at the time and I later sourced some elsewhere. Shame really.

where are people finding these currently ?
in need of one pair -

hubjub have "cheap" knock offs at £12.50 a pair, and there are always some on ebay if you're desperate/rich.

Hubjub are £12.50 each.

• #23
velodrome shop are £21 each
eai ones should be better quality
Why does nobody make a replica version of these bastards? EAI make the replica lockring, Andel make replica cranksets, but nobody seems to make a replica for the bit that tends to go missing.
So, does anyone have a set, er, going spare? I need front and rear. I think that's 9mm x 26tpi for the front and 10mm x 26tpi for the rear.
If not, I will be attaching the wheels to my frame using rubber bands and willpower. Then when I maim myself, you will feel really guilty if you had a set of the necessary nuts and didn't reply to this thread.
