Hullo! just joined. Really like cycling but overweight, so looking forward to do it a bit more. I own a cyclocross bike (not a fixie yet sorry =( ) and have started doing some recreational rides, not more than 50 miles in one go. My nemesis is the Dark Hill in Richmond, she hates me. Looking forward to finding out more about cycling, and hopefully meet some cool people in the process!

Welcome Naty! There is a upcoming Ladies' ride to Southend-on-Sea that poots will be leading on Feb 23, it might be a bit longer distance than you're used to doing, but I think it's relatively flat.
You've just missed out on Feb Ladies' drinks, but there should be one for March as well, it's a good way of putting some faces to (forum) names.

Oh Yay! Yes, please come!!!
Maybe I can fix so that the Un Giro Di Sporco Sud will be held around the same time as the Eurovision! Please come and join me in the UGDSS! This year I was the only girl. Which meant that I won the award for "Best Female", but considering it was on WO it didn't feel as such an accomplishment. (But I won a Chrome bag! Yay!!! Use it every day! Love it!)
Possibly the UGDSS isn't as famous as I would wish, so I post a link to the movie from 2010.

Couldn't find the movie from the race in 2012, but it was an even better race! Beautiful weather, wonderful pistas, lovely company and loads of sweet fixies!Cooooome! Joooooin meeee!
Dredging this back up. I'm intrigued by a trip to scandi...anyone else interested?!

Hi everyone... I've just joined this forum and thought this would be a good place to start! I've been seriously riding my little pink single speed since I moved to London with my boyfriend (Hobo) 5 years ago, mainly to commute to work, save money, avoid crappy buses and tubes and get fitter. At first I was really nervous about the busy roads but thanks to my lovely other half's 'tutoring' I now confidently ride anywhere in London and can definitely hold my own on the roads. I'm really interested in meeting other girls into riding bikes, and going on some longer rides. Is the one to South-end still happening? x

I did a 'hello' in the main forum but I thought I'd say hello here too as I'm lady with a bike. (Or few)
I'm Vicky, from Norwich. I've always ridden bikes but swapped BMX for old road bikes after finding a seventies Viking in a hedge a couple of years ago. I'm now looking to build a single speed to add to my collection and, if it's done in time, do this years Dun Run on it. I've never done a distance like that on one gear but I did it last year on 5 and it didn't kill me, so in for a penny and all that!
Anyway, that's me and hopefully I'll get to talk to you all some more. :) -

Hi all, I've been lurking the forums for a while but thought I would say hello! I go by Shelby, I'm Australian but have been living in Edinburgh for the past 6 months. I haven't been doing nearly as much cycling as I would like, but now I'm mostly settled in London I can start looking at group rides and track. I've had my Fuji Feather for a few years but haven't really had a chance to ride it all that much due to moving about. I shall be collecting my bike next weekend along with clockwork_killa, whom I should mention is my boyfriend and will be showing me how to navigate the treacherous roads of London. Hope to see some of you around!

hello! i'm lucy :) i've finally signed up after browsing the forum for a while. i've been cycling in london for about three years, and built my own single speed and 7-speed (with the help of my mechanic housemate and also my boyfriend - lucky to live in a very bike-oriented household!). i love my bike and i'm always happy to learn more about bike mechanics. i'm now selling the single speed frame as it's a bit too big, and i'm hoping to build a fixie next with a new frame :)
i'm also about halfway through restoring my grandmother's 1938 single speed ladies Raleigh - it's beautiful and i can't wait to finish it!

Currently riding a geared raleigh (hand me down from said partner) but I've put my foot down and we're saving to build a nice new single speed, yay! I worked at the Olympics cyclehoop bike parks with some guys off here, but would love to meet more ladies! (ps. hi lucy :)

Its still taking shape so there is no race program yet i'll sort this soon but it'd be good if you can add yourself to the list.
Spread the word, we are also looking for sponsors for prizes.

Just joined the forum as I'm toying with the idea of getting a single speed for getting around town. Have been riding a road bike for just over a year now and getting really into doing long distance rides out of London at the weekends. Before that I was riding MTB down in Devon and Cornwall. It would be great to join on any group rides that happen. Are there still south London drinks happening?
I flipped some kids throwing an iceball at my leg...I am just bad tempered :):)
T'was a bit sore and I was on a busy road, way to scare the cyclist...
