Tourmalet again, five years ago, one of the significant moments in my life. Was sweating like a fat girl in a van. A one-in-ten climb for 13 miles. The next day in the restaurant I boasted to the waitress that I'd done the Tourmalet. "Oh" she said, "My dad did that last year, he's 80". Take the wind out of my sails, madam.
For a Norfolk lad those mountains are completely incredible.
