Racism, no. Are sexy comments acceptable? Nice rack.

I think I'm going to invent a bike rack specifically for carrying black puddings.
And another one just for carrying spaghetti. Don't you dare try to put any linguine on there mind, it's going to be spaghetti-specific.
Capelli d'angelli?

modern oversized frame tubes are ideal for carrying salami and saucisson.

of course getting it in and out is a bit problematic.

I want to mount a low rider rack on my front forks. What size Allen bolts do I need that attach by the dropout? Will it be a standard size?
-
• #36
They're usually standard. M5 x 10mm I think.

As title....
Looking at doing LEJOG in the next 18 months, got a rear rack, panniers and rack bag, but looking to add a front rack and some smaller bags to spread weight around and hold light but bulky items
Front fork is standard On One Pompino fork so got eyelets but no mounting point on crown
Would prefer low rider fitting - any suggestions?

Tokyo Fixed has some nice ones If you are in London its worth paying them a visit otherwise PM edscoble here he will know for sure.

I'd buy tubus racks in your position.

Blackburn low rider are good. Careful though, as my Kaffenback fork was too wide to fit them (2nd hand, not sure if there's usually wider U's to fit fatter fork?).
Anyway, good luck.

Thanks all - might be dull and stick with Tortec Expedition to match rear rack, seems to have more good than bad reviews on wider web
Blackburn low rider gets the same amount of thumbs up too, so that kind of narrows it down to two choices!
-

Depending on what the width of your fork is, the tubus might still be the best idea because it is fairly wide to begin with, yet can adapt to a narrower stance.

I've searched around but not been able to resolve this. I'm in search of a front rack that looks like this
http://di1-1.shoppingshadow.com/images/pi/4f/e8/e3/131698200-260x260-0-0_vavert+vavert+advancer+front+rack+black.jpgI've currently got a wald basket but even unloaded you can really feel it in the steering. So a lightweight rack that unloaded would weigh very little seems ideal for carrying a few bits and bobs.
The problem being its going on my track bike and I have mudguard or rack eyelets, though it is drilled for a brake. So does anyone know of a manufacturer (asides from nitto - which a v expensive) who makes cheap, simple and light weight front rack that can attach to a sold track axel?

or p-clips then any rack you want.
I would recommend the Gamoh
http://www.wheelies.co.uk/Images/Products/full44152.jpg
or Fitzrovia Cycles sell a plate that goes over your axle and has 2 holes drilled in it and allows you to fit a rack through those holes. Though I don't know what it's called I do know it works as I'm currently running those plates with the rack above.

if he considers wald heavy I dont know if gamoh is a good recommendation at all.

Ye, I'm more after something I can strap a jacket or small bag to and the rest of the the time not really notice, the vavert one I put the picture of is only 330g so ideal. I thought about p clips but would like the simplicty of it going onto the axle. I'm really suprised nobody seems to make them, its such a simple design.
Verbs & nouns on here had this one which looks great, but I asked him and he said it was an old french porteur rack

it looks flimsy though
-
• #48
I reckon it looks solid enough for the light loads I would be putting on it
-
• #49
What about a bag with a some sort of mechanism to strap it to your body?
If you don't like having something on your back and the load is really light then I would just something like one of those ones that attaches to your seatpost:
http://76.my/Malaysia/bike-rear-rack-detachable-1009-27-infowiz88@12.jpg
...or a small caridice.
or work out a way to fit a VO constructor to the front:
(although I think a small neat rear is better than a front)

I hadn't thought of putting a strap on my bag!! I more mean for when I'm out and about and decide to get a few things from the shop and dont have a bag. Those clamp on ones are rather heavy however, I have set my heart on a simple front rack
Why build a basket for that when you could sport a highly fashionable piece of head gear to serve the same purpose?
