  • It wasn't a cracking match to be honest, and the seats though close were a bit too low to see the action unfold.

As mentioned previously the Lyon away fans were superb, boisterous, loud, singing throughout, apart from when Bale smashed in both freekicks and we got the chance to shoot the V's at them...

Not sure why we were so quiet, the team though well marshalled never got that head of steam up which requires fan participation, and we (as fans) never felt the team was under the kosh enough to get vocal to urge the team to play better.

We played well, but didn't create much, though I forgot about Bale missing an absolute sitter, after being put through, shoving it wide when the goal was open, and it would have been easier to score.

Dembele was good in the flesh, that dip of the shoulder and turn away from a pressing midfielder is quite something, but he sometimes doesn't see the pass that everyone else sees, and with Parker in the team he tends to sit quite deep, and though they are interchanging, one going forward, one hanging back, I always want Dembele to be the one pushing upfield, rather than Parker. Also think Vertonghen deferred too much to Gallas, who as the game moved into the latter stages, kept pushing forward when it should have been big Jan, whose a better passer, ball player and all around footballer than Gallas and if felt like the wrong player was holding the defensive line..

I'm not as hard on Adebayor as some, his service wasn't great but he was trying, but you could feel the disappointment when the ball slipped way from him, or was blocked as he tried to pass out of a pressing situation, and the ball would land at a Lyon players feet.
