The thing rattles like a bastard = very annoying. It is still going though so I can't fault that yet although so are my Smart lights which are 5-8 years older.
Smart are totally Plissken.

My front light suddenly stopped working. Fresh batteries as well. Light looked dimmer than usual last few days. Now doesn't turn on.
Any remedies or throw in the bin?

Replace with better light.

Is the el 135 shit? I was planning on buying one tomorrow...

Check for a loose wire or connector somewhere.
I don't know about this model but most lights don't have too much to go wrong. -

I suggest these, very cheap and very bright for the price. I've had mine for a couple of days and pretty happy so far.

How old is it? Lights from bigger manufacturers generally have a warranty, Topeaks is 2 years!
If they don't replace it, do try and get a better one if possible.

Nothing wrong with them. Good little commuter light if you want to be seen, I've got 2. Good value too if you get them as part of a set, like this.
Edit: Mine have been working for a good few years so I don't know why yours have conked out. Check the battery connections?

The switches can be shit, try pressing it a bunch of times. Check for water inside, blow it out with compressed air. Leave to dry out somewhere. Try again. Bin.

Thanks for the responses!
create a thread about it.
I did but it was moved into this one for some odd reason.

I imagine the rain has got into the working parts. The bottom clip is also broken.

Probably time for a new set (after 3.5 years)! I have felt these cat eye lights are not bright enough anyway.

Is it a good idea to mount a lezyne femto on my from hub so that it's a spinning flashing seizure of a light? (Genuine question). I currently have it on my fork blade illuminating the front wheel.

Can anyone recommend a front light for £20 or under. Something that is easily removable like the knog skink?

if you have it, why don't you try it?
I wouldn't. I've had similar small lights on the hubs before and the front one got very annoying. -

^^ Don't have a specific recommendation but Merlin cycles have an extra 20% off lights at the moment.

^^i'll give it a go, I'm worried that I'll blind myself or other people and give somebody a huge fit. Then again anything that would stop drivers trying to kill me would be great.

I've got an electron milli that is quite bright and seems robust. I got mine free when I joined LCC. Might be worth checking if that offer is still on.

Are they too bright (dazzle other road users)?
Which is best to get? (cree xml, ssc p7 etc) -

I ride a recumbent tricycle and to make it very visible I have been using Megaflare led lights. I originally came across these while working as an exploration geologist. We used them to mark out helicopter landing pads. They are cheap, bomb-proof and when the re-chargeable batteries die you can easily replace them with off-the-shelf cells. They can be secured on with a small shackle from a chandlers or with a couple of long bolts. They come in a multitude of colours, even blue so you can pretend you are a police car.

Which is best to get? (cree xml, ssc p7 etc)Yep, I have the Cree XM-L T6 whatsit for my MTB. I would take the lumen rating with a pinch of salt - the units seem to be the same regardless of whether the lumen rating is advertised as 900 or 1600! The quality seems variable, but mine was fine; if you get a duff one you can send it back, anyway.
They are un-usably bright on high beam; on low beam they are fine for road use. I haven't run mine flat so I don't know what the battery time is, but other internet users suggest that it is about three hours. I have bought a diffuser lens for mine as the beam is too narrow for MTBing (might be okay for road) - also, they don't have any side visibility so you'll need another backup light, too.
The value is stunning - you'd have to spend £150 to get anything as bright from a UK bike shop. No idea how long the chinese ones last; for £25, even if it just lasts for a year, that's still cheaper than a bike-shop one that lasts for three or four years.
has been amazing since i bought it
battery lasts for ages on the lowest setting, which is still amazingly bright
brightest setting is too much unless it is really foggy
